American Moldings and Trim Market Report Demand for molding and trim in nonresidential markets is forecast to increase nearly five percent per year through 2011 to $3.4 billion. Gains will derive primarily from the recovery of new construction in the office and commercial segments of the market. The institutional segment, which had been the primary demand driver between 2001 and 2006, will continue to see solid growth. Nonresidential improvement and repair spending is anticipated to ac¬celerate through 2011, supporting replacement demand for molding and trim.

Order The study includes such valuable intelligence as growth markets and product analyses. Historical demand for the years 1996, 2001 and 2006 is presented, as well as forecasts for 2011 and 2016. The data is illustrated with nearly 80 tables and charts The report examines the molding and trim industry by material (wood, plastic, metal, engineered wood and other), product (molding, stairworks and other) and market (residential and nonresidential). Throughout the study, demand is related to various indicators (e.g., GDP construction expenditures). Finally, the report places the American molding and trim industry into its international context.

Company profiles and market shares are provided for almost 40 competitors such as AZEK Building Products, Bright Wood, Fortune Brands, Louisiana-Pacific, Royal Group, Sierra Pacific, Tapco and Woodgrain.

Methodology

For the purposes of this study, “molding” refers solely to interior molding and trim products used in conjunction with walls and ceilings; while “stairwork” refers to stair systems and components whether used in interior or exterior applications. Thus, “other products” would consist of a variety of molding and trim products, most of which are used in exterior applications. However, other products include some interior molding and trim products such as fireplace surrounds, mantels and interior columns.

Information and data on the molding and trim industry were obtained from a variety of primary and secondary sources, including government publications, trade associations (e.g., North American Deck and Railing Association, Composite Fence & Deck Association, Plastic Lumber Trade Association, Southern Forest Products Association), industry participants, online databases and other Freedonia studies. These and supporting data were adjusted as necessary in light of consultation with personnel of participating companies and other industry contacts. Secondary data and background information were obtained from various trade publications, including Builder, ENR/Engineering News-Record , The Journal of Light Construction , Plastics News , Professional Builder , Walls & Ceilings, and Wood and Wood Products. Corporate information sources included annual reports, SEC Form10-K filings, product releases, prospectuses and conversations with responsible officers within the companies themselves.
